Yes. Kaleran uses Plaid to connect to your bank, which means we only get read-only access to your transaction history — we can never move money, make payments, or change any account settings. Your bank credentials are never stored by Kaleran; Plaid handles authentication with bank-level 256-bit encryption.
No. Kaleran does not access your email, Gmail, or any other inbox. Everything is bank-only, pulled through Plaid from your transaction history. Detection is based on what you've actually been charged — not on promotional emails you may have never noticed.

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Account section inside Kaleran. This removes your profile, disconnects your bank link through Plaid, and permanently deletes your transaction history from our servers. We do not retain data after deletion.
